Dr Lorraine Walker
I am a Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience working with children and families, in the NHS, and independent practice.
For 18 years I worked in an NHS Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in a diverse London borough. During this time I provided individual and group therapy in GP practices, children’s centres, nurseries and schools. Currently I work independently offering therapy to children and families in a central London consulting room or at home, school or on-line, if required.
Making good therapeutic relationships with clients and professionals is something I pride myself on. I particularly enjoy working alongside multidisciplinary and multi-agency colleagues to ensure a comprehensive package of care, especially for clients with additional needs. My experience includes working with families involved in legal proceedings.
I use a range of therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Systemic, Narrative and Solution Focused Therapies and behavioural, attachment and developmentally informed approaches. Aside from therapy, I am experienced in supervising and managing psychology colleagues and offering training and consultation to non-psychology colleagues in the Health, Education, Social Care and Charitable sectors.
I am registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and am a member of the Association of Clinical Psychologists (ACP) and Association of Child & Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH). My clinical work is supervised by an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist and I focus my Continued Professional Development (CPD) on child & adolescent mental health. I hold an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) certificate and Professional Indemnity Insurance. I am registered as a Data Controller with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO).
